Judith Hoogkamer

Judith Hoogkamer, translator at Global textwareI was born and raised in Zwolle, but have been living in Groningen for quite some time now. I am a true book-fanatic. When I was young I was often so engrossed in my book that I wouldn't hear my parents call for me. As of the age of 15 I pretty much only read English books. I have a wall of bookcases at home with around 1000 books. With regret I must admit that I have not even read them all. "Something with the English language" was my very abstract plan for the future after completing my secondary education. In 2002 I started my studies of English Language and Culture at the Rijksuniversiteit in Groningen. Lots of books to be read and debating on literature, I loved it!

After graduating in the spring of 2006 I devoted myself to the translation business. For a year I tried to make a living as a freelance translator. As of May 2008 I work at Global textware. I am part of the Google-team. From the very beginning I have enjoyed the interaction with my colleagues. It's nice not to have to rack your brain about one word for fifteen minutes and it's even better to be in the company of like-minded people.
